Understanding your Hormonal Changes During Menopause

June 30, 20253 min read

Let’s talk about something every woman will face, but many still whisper about: menopause and the years leading up to it.

It can feel confusing, confronting, and even a little scary, especially when you don’t know what to expect. One day, things feel “normal,” and the next, your sleep shifts, your mood dips, your energy disappears, or your body feels like it’s no longer your own.

But here’s the truth I want every woman to know: you are not broken. You are becoming a different version.

Perimenopause: A Powerful Transition, Not a Decline

Perimenopause is the natural transition before menopause. It can begin in your 40s (sometimes earlier), and may last anywhere from 2 to 8 years. During this time, your body begins to shift hormonally, and yes, those shifts can bring some challenges.

But they also bring opportunities:
💫 To slow down and listen to your body
💫 To rediscover who you are beneath the roles you've played
💫 To step into the next season of your life with strength, clarity, and purpose

What’s Really Happening With Your Hormones?

Let’s simplify the science:

Oestrogen begins to decline. This hormone affects your menstrual cycle, mood, skin, and even your brain function. As it dips, you may experience hot flushes, night sweats, or emotional changes.

Progesterone drops even faster, which can intensify symptoms like anxiety, sleep issues, and irregular periods.

Testosterone might not vanish completely, but it does decrease with age, often affecting your motivation, libido, and muscle strength.

All of this can feel overwhelming. But you don’t have to go through it alone, and you certainly don’t have to suffer in silence.

There Are Natural Ways to Find Balance Again

Your body is wise. And even when hormone levels drop, it still seeks equilibrium. There are gentle, supportive, natural therapies that can help guide your system back into a new kind of balance.

Reflexology is one of my favourite tools for this. Through calming touch and stimulation of specific reflex points, reflexology helps to:
✨ Balance your hormones
✨ Soothe your nervous system
✨ Improve sleep
✨ Reduce anxiety
✨ Ease hot flushes
✨ Ease those unpredictable emotional and physical swings

It’s a quiet reset, a way to tell your body: You’re safe. You’re supported. You can let go.

And of course, always speak with a trusted doctor about what you're going through. It’s okay to ask questions. It’s okay to want to feel better.

This Is Your Time to Reclaim Your Power

Menopause is not the end of your life, it’s your beginning into a new stage. A time to step into your wisdom, listen to your needs, and care for yourself like never before.

I’ve walked this road myself. And through my own experience, and my work with women since 1999, I’ve seen again and again how much better this transition can be when we’re informed, supported, and empowered.

With You Every Step of the Way

If you're ready to feel more at home in your changing body
If you're longing for ease, clarity, and calm
If you're tired of the myths and ready for real support

I’m here. Let’s journey through Menopause & Beyond together.
